Frequently asked questions

We operate on a Tuesday and Wednesday during school term time, starting at Paroa Playcentre and finishing there at the end of the day. We start at 9.15am and we close at 3.15pm

No, if they are toilet trained you don’t have to stay with your child, but we do require helpers to make our programme possible. We operate with a ratio of 1 adult to 4 tamariki/children, so with 16 children attending we would need an additional 2 helpers. Some whānau come often, which is great, and whānau support can be wider, such as Grandparents or extended family.

We are funded for the 20 hours ECE from the government, which means if your child is able to use those hours with us (for 3 to school age tamariki), the cost is free. Otherwise, there is a $6 an hour charge. If you are attending with a child due to toilet training we are not charging you a fee either.

We provide full wet weather gear for tamariki, they just need to have their own gumboots! We do go out in all weathers, but we have multiple sources of shelter available to us, and we also have the use of the Playcentre building each day too. On really wet days we have often headed out for an explore, a lot of puddle jumping, and then headed back early to get warm, get dry and bake bread!
